Today while preparing for my asar prayers, mind you in Bergen, Norway in summer time is around 7pm to 10pm i got this urged to write about my faith, Islam.
First i missed the call of prayers, the azhan. So, to do that i downloaded the azhan from my cellphone MP3 program. And Allahu Akbar, it sounded so beautiful and melodic to my ears.
There was a few to download and i had to scan to a few to choose the sweetest to my ears. It may sound differently from various caller but its still the same, sweet and beautiful. Allahu Akbar it was.
And while taking my ambulation, with outside temperature in 8C, i said i to my self i need to relate to what had happened a few days ago.
On the 15th May 2011 i was invited to a family confirmation. In the Norwegian society, confirmation ceremony is both religious and customs , a coming of age to young children after reaching the age of 15 years old.
The confirmation ceremony is done in a church and often than not done simultaneously with other young children from other families too. So it was a great occasion for all the family.
The ceremony is of Christian faith proceeding with singing of hymms and praises to Jesus Christ.
Here I am sitting with the congregation, following the proceeding and respecting it, not an aorta of my vein that i feel i will be influenced to the religion as i see and observed it attentively. I felt stronger than ever of my religion, Islam. And the very same time respecting Christianity as being a similar faith. After all the disciples and of Islam are the same. The religion of Abrahamic faith.
Though i must confess I am not very religious i dare say that my faith in Islam gets stronger when you are far away in a country where Islam is not prominent to your day to day life.
Allahu Akbar.
